Rs 1 lac for injured cop

Dehradun, Oct 30(PTI) Uttarakhand Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhariyal Nishank announced an out-of-turn promotion and a cash reward of Rs one lakh for a constable, who was injured during an encounter with miscreants here on Wednesday, official sources today said.
The Chief Minister made the announcement last evening,
when he visited the hospital where the injured constable
Hariom was admitted.
Nishank said that government would encourage the police
personnel performing their duty with honesty and would not
spare anyone trying to spoil the atmosphere of the state.
Hariom would be promoted as head constable on the state
formation day on Nov 9, they said.
Some armed miscreants barged into the house of PD Bhatt
on Wednesday night and held the couple captive, while others
collected cash and ornaments. In the meantime police reached
the spot.
Seeing the police, miscreants opened fire at them, which
also retaliated. Later, police managed to arrest three of
them, however, others fled with the booty.
Hariom received injuries in the exchange of fire, and he
was admitted to a hospital. PTI
