Home-stay: State inks deal with Mahindra

Dehradun, Nov 5 (PTI) Hospitality firm Mahindra Holidays
and Resorts has entered into a tie-up with the Uttarakhand
government for promoting the concept of 'home-stay' in the
hill state.
The scheme has been named as Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Home
Stay Scheme.
The agreement was signed by Uttarakhand Tourism
Secretary, Utpal Kumar Singh and Mahindra Holidays Managing
Director, Ramesh Ramanathan during a ceremony here today.
Under the home-stay concept, individual households are
encouraged to open their doors for tourists and visitors as an
alternative to regular hotels and resorts to promote a
particular destination.
"This scheme will help in promoting tourism in the far
flung and rural areas of the state," Uttarakhand Tourism
Minister Madan Kaushik said during the ceremony. PTI
