Industrial package: State for extension till 2020

Dehradun, Nov 4 (PTI) Uttarakhand Chief Minister R P
Nishank will soon call on the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh
seeking extension of the special industrial package to the
state till 2020.
"The extension of this package is very important to
speed up the process of industrialisation in the state,"
Nishank told reporters today after inaugurating the
manufacturing facility of a pharmaceutical company, 35 kms
from here.
The term of the package expires on March 31, 2010.
Claiming that the government had written a series of
letters to the Centre seeking extension of the package, the
Chief Minister accused it of treating them with indifference.
However, Nishank said he will soon meet the Prime
Minister to mount pressure on him to fulfil the demand.
Announcing that various measures are being mulled to
promote herbal cultivation in the state, the Chief Minister
said herbal industry in Uttarakhand is likely to grow rapidly
which would create tremendous new opportunities. PTI
